The teacher shall serve as the education leader of the classroom. DISTRICT AND

Elk Rapids Schools has approximately 975 students in grades K-12 and is located in the northwest lower peninsula of Michigan. The District also serves as an authorizer of Mill Creek Academy, a K-5th-grade District that educates approximately 230 students. Elk Rapids Schools is an education leader within the Northwest Education Services Intermediate School District and is eager to interview the best candidates for this vacancy.
Lakeland Elementary and Mill Creek Academy are seeking a motivated, passionate, engaged, and dedicated elementary music teacher to make a difference in our community and district. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students by fostering a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will commit to educational excellence, effective classroom management, and a collaborative approach to working with all students, colleagues, parents, and community members.
- Establish a classroom structure that values positive relationships through intentional implementation of the district curriculum and the vision of high-quality instruction.
- Establish a classroom culture that supports the non-academic needs of all students in order to remove barriers that interfere with academic success.
- Knowledge of teaching music in a differentiated format.
- Support the instructional process with specific responsibility for developing students’ music appreciation and skills.
- Facilitate student success and growth in music and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved fine arts curriculum.
- Design and implement a wide variety of appropriate instructional activities for students of varying abilities and talents.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Observe and evaluate each student’s performance and development.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students, provide appropriate feedback on work, and use information to adjust teaching strategies according to student need.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Participate in department/grade level, school, district, and parent meetings.
- Must be flexible and organized with a willingness and ability to teach a variety of aged students while effectively managing large classes of students.

Required:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Elementary K-8 All Subjects or K-5 All Subjects; K-8 All Subjects Self
- Contained Classrooms)
Preferred:
- Previous classroom teaching experience.
- Music (JX) endorsements.
- Elementary (ZG) endorsement.
Salary:
Based on experience in accordance with EREA Master Agreement
