Resource Room Staff Member
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Grand Ledge High School as a full-time resource room staff member. This role is designed for those who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and inclusive environment, helping students achieve their academic goals while promoting personal growth and self-advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with varying learning abilities and needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement personalized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional methods and materials as necessary.
- Facilitate a supportive and structured learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Assist students in developing effective study skills, organizational strategies, and self-advocacy skills.
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and support staff to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate educational goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
- Stay informed about best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Support students in social-emotional learning and conflict resolution as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or special education endorsement preferred.
- Experience working with high school students with disabilities or diverse learning needs.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and community resources.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support student learning.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
