Pickford Public Schools is seeking a K-12 Art Teacher. The position requires a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in Art Education, evidence of prior successful teaching experience, and the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving Art experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades K through 5.
The teacher will work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, and online tools. The teacher must understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage Art learning experiences. Planning, organization, and time management skills are essential. The ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan and work in a collaborative manner with parents and other professionals is required.
Confidentiality regarding staff, children, and families is mandatory.
Duties and responsibilities include delivering Art instruction through project-based learning methods, attending professional development and training related to Art programs and methodologies, employing a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, using technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration, working directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Art initiatives and curriculum, organizing, developing, and coordinating special Art events/activities, coaching teachers on Art initiatives and instructional best practices, serving as liaison to various vendors and agencies to determine the best resources, options, and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff, initiating new programs that support the Art vision, and sharing Art events and activities through various platforms to advertise programming.
Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc) are required. Follows the District's job description for teachers.
