Kindergarten Teacher
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a caring, energetic, and highly qualified kindergarten teacher who is passionate about fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for our youngest elementary students. The successful candidate will create meaningful learning experiences that support academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth while building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate elementary certification
- Competency in content area
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best instructional practices for young learners
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to equity, collaboration, and continuous professional growth
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Michigan academic standards.
- Establish a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student success.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all learners.
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies and use data to guide instruction.
- Foster language development, early literacy, mathematics, and foundational learning skills.
- Implement effective classroom management practices that encourage positive student behavior.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, interventionists, and other support personnel to meet student needs.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
