Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in the area of Art Education. Evidence of prior successful teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving Art experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades K through 5.
  • Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, and online tools.
  • Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage Art learning experiences.
  • Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position/program.
  • Demonstrated ability to and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan and work in a collaborative manner with parents and other professionals
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff, children and families.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Delivers Art instruction through project-based learning methods.
  • Attends professional development and training related to Art programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning
  • Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Art initiatives and curriculum.
  • Organizes, develops, and coordinates special Art events/activities.
  • Coaches teachers on Art initiatives and instructional best practices.
  • Serves as liaison to various vendors and agencies to determine the best resources, options and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff.
  • Initiates new programs that support the Art vision.
  • Shares Art events and activities through various platforms to advertise programming.
  • Follows the District's job description for teachers.
