Substitute Teacher
Academy of the Sacred Heart, established in 1851, is Michigan's oldest independent school, offering a Catholic, college-preparatory education to girls (infant-grade 12) and boys (infant-grade
8) of many cultures and faiths. The school is looking for dependable and flexible substitute teachers who share the values of Academy of the Sacred Heart's mission and have a clear commitment to the educational philosophy of Sacred Heart Schools. The ideal candidate will be energized by working with children of all ages. A teaching certification is appreciated but not required.
Individuals with informal experience (tutor, childcare provider, university students) are also welcome to apply.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family
- Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
Preferred Education/Prior Experience/
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Teaching certificate
- High level of competence using technology
- Experience in a PreK–grade 12 environment, preferably in independent schools is a plus
- Completion of Virtus:
Protecting God's Children training and fingerprints on file before first subbing job

- Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures and rules contained in the Academy of the Sacred Heart (ASH) Handbook
- Maintain productive and professional relationships with other Sacred Heart faculty and staff members
