Position Summary InformationJob Description Summary
Provide quality instruction for public speaking courses. Each course consists of 3 lecture hours per week. Course time: 2:20 PM – 3:50 PM In person on the Dowagiac Campus Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Communications or English, or Master’s Degree with 18 credit hours of coursework in the content area.
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Demonstrated use of instructional technology
- Previous teaching experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods, as well as relate to students.
- Preparing and delivering lessons using a master syllabus and standardized curriculum.
- Working comfortably with a diverse student population that includes dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students.
- Grading assignments and providing feedback to students in a timely manner.
- Utilizing a variety of student engagement strategies in the classroom to ensure active student participation.
- Using Moodle regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades.
- Being proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email.
- Bringing a positive, energetic, and professional attitude into the classroom.
- Being accessible to students and responding to all in-person and electronic student inquiries.
- Provide the department with student performance data that is required for regular outcomes assessment.
- Becoming familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines, and policies of the College.

- 1. The physical activity of this position.
- A. Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- B. Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

- 2. The physical requirements of this position.
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
- 3. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision.
- The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
