Student Support Professional – Literacy Intervention
Job Summary

The SSP provides targeted literacy support for students in grades 3-5 during daily intervention blocks. While teachers focus on high-need instruction, the SSP works with students on reading enrichment, foundational literacy skills, fluency practice, and academic support. The SSP also helps implement behavior plans, uses de-escalation strategies, and promotes positive coping skills to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide small-group and one-on-one literacy interventions and enrichment.
  • Support MTSS literacy routines, including decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension practice.
  • Assist in developing and organizing literacy materials, intervention lessons, and progress-monitoring tools.
  • Help coordinate district and school wide assessments, including NWEA and screening tools.
  • Use digital systems and spreadsheets to accurately track student reading progress.
  • Reinforce PBIS expectations and support students in positive behavior and self-regulation.
  • Assist teachers with behavior plans, de-escalation strategies, and student support needs.
  • Support school wide duties as needed, including recess and lunch supervision.
  • Maintain punctual, dependable attendance and collaborate positively with staff.
Hours/Shift

29.75 hours per week

  • Mon-Thurs: 9:15 AM-3:45 PM
  • Friday: 9:30 AM-3:45 PM ( Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch )
Qualifications
  • Degree OR 60 college credits OR passing score on the ETS Parapro Assessment.
  • Strong understanding of elementary literacy instruction (training provided).
  • Ability to support small groups, manage multiple tasks, and work collaboratively.
  • Comfort using digital data tools.
