Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership, oversight, and operational support for all 6–12 athletic programs.
  • Represent Glen Lake Community Schools by actively attending all league, conference, regional, state (MHSAA), and athletic director association (MIAAA/NIAAA) meetings and professional conferences.
  • Maintain our high standard of athletic competitiveness while promoting sportsmanship, integrity, and student safety.
  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, and mentor dedicated coaching staff.
  • Manage scheduling, event logistics, officiating, transportation, and facilities for all home and away athletic events.
  • Administer athletic budgets, equipment procurement, and facility maintenance in coordination with administration.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and district policies.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive culture across grades 6–12 using restorative practices and clear expectations.
  • Administer student discipline with fairness, consistency, and a focus on personal responsibility and growth.
  • Partner with teachers, counselors, and parents to support student academic, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Track attendance and behavioral trends, implementing proactive interventions when necessary.
  • Assist building principals with daily school operations, supervision, and safety procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree required (Master's in Educational Leadership, Athletic Administration, or related field preferred).
  • Experience:

    Teaching, athletic administration, coaching, or school leadership experience at the secondary level (grades 6–12).
  • Certification:
    Valid Michigan Teaching or Administrative License preferred (or eligibility for certification).
  • Skills:

    Strong organizational and logistics capabilities; outstanding communication and conflict-resolution skills; deep passion for both high-level athletics and student development.
Compensation & Work Schedule

Schedule:

220 Work Days (annual contract covering the school year plus designated summer preparation days).

Salary Range:
Regionally competitive salary, commensurate with experience with consideration for starting placement based on relevant leadership, administrative, and coaching experience.
