We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team at Summerfield Elementary School as a Special Education Bus Aide. This part-time position is essential in providing support to students with special needs during transportation to and from school. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, understanding, and a commitment to fostering a safe and positive environment for our students.

Responsibilities:

• Assist students with boarding and disembarking the school bus safely.
• Provide supervision and support to students with special needs during transit.
• Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including the use of seat belts and other safety equipment.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding any concerns or issues that may arise during transportation.
• Assist with managing student behavior and promoting a respectful and inclusive atmosphere on the bus.
• Report any incidents or emergencies to the bus driver and school administration promptly.
• Help maintain a clean and organized bus environment.
• Accompany students on field trips or special outings as required.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as needed to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education and transportation.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR is a plus.
• Must pass a background check and any required safety training.
• Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
• Reliable transportation to and from Summerfield Elementary School.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate school hours and transportation needs.
