Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in a secondary-level behavior support classroom for the school year in Hastings, Michigan. This is a full-time, in-person opportunity for an educator who is passionate about helping students with behavioral and emotional needs achieve academic, social, and personal success while working as part of a collaborative educational team.
Responsibilities- Provide specialized instruction and behavioral support within a secondary behavior support classroom setting.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals and needs.
- Utilize evidence-based behavior intervention strategies and positive behavior support practices.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Monitor student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Conduct progress monitoring and contribute to IEP meetings and evaluations.
- Create and maintain a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and growth.
- Support students in developing self-regulation, coping, and social skills necessary for success in school and beyond.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement.
- Experience working with middle school or high school students with behavioral, emotional, or social-emotional support needs preferred.
- Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies, classroom management techniques, and positive behavior supports.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
