Job Title: Intervention Tutor/Social Skills Facilitator

Department: K-12 Grant Funded Programs

Reports To: Building Principals

The Intervention Tutor position supports students, teachers, and other staff to create a caring and safe environment for students, while assisting in activities to improve student’s academic skills in reading and math. The individual must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the students and their parents, the individual observes and documents progress and relays that information back to the teachers, administration, etc.

The intervention Tutor is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate academic activities based on needs under the direction of teachers, principals, or other designees

Preferred Qualifications
  • Elementary Teaching Certificate
  • Associates Degree or equivalent (60 college credits)
  • Demonstrated success as a collaborator and team player
  • Proficiency in math and reading
  • Demonstrate comfort with using technology
  • Experience counseling students preferred
  • Language Arts (BX), Math (EX) Endorsement preferred
Essential Duties And Responsibilties
  • Work collaboratively with district administrators to establish appropriate intervention programs for participating students.
  • Create a positive learning environment while delivering intended reading, math, or social intervention (with fidelity) in targeted small groups of students in a classroom or online setting.
  • Establishes meaningful connections with referred children to reduce problematic behavior and to improve their behavior, educational performance and social relationships.
  • Participating member of the Building Multi-Tiered System of Supports
  • Be an active participant in professional development activities, open to new learning and participate in staff meetings and trainings as requested by building/district administrators.
  • Administers progress monitoring assessments to targeted students, provides feedback to students, communicates academic student progress to stakeholders, and assists in maintaining student records.
  • Assist with materials development, lesson planning, organization, distribution, and use.
  • Work in collaboration with classroom teachers, PPSC Coaches, instructional coaches, CIA coordinators, and other instructional aides.
  • Conduct self in a positive, professional manner maintaining confidentiality of students and staff.
  • Must be flexible and willing to complete other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrators.
