Job Summary

Beagle Middle School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Para Educator to join our team. This full-time position involves working closely with students with diverse learning needs to support their academic and social development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and will collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure that all students achieve their full potential.

• - Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• - Provide one-on-one support to students in academic subjects, helping them to understand and complete assignments.
• - Facilitate small group activities and support inclusion in the general education classroom.
• - Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
• - Assist with the implementation of behavioral intervention plans and support positive behavior management strategies.
• - Help create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes the social and emotional well-being of students.
• - Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and other professionals to support student learning and development.
• - Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
• - Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
• - Supervise students during non-instructional periods, including lunch, ensuring a safe environment.

• - High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education, special education, or a related field is preferred.
• - Previous experience working with students with special needs is highly desirable.
• - Knowledge of special education principles, practices, and relevant laws.
• - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
• - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to the needs of individual students.
• - Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• - Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
• - Certification or training in CPR and first aid is preferred.
• - Ability to pass background checks and comply with school district policies and procedures.
