Special Education Teacher; summers off

West Iron County Public Schools is looking for a caring, creative, and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join their team in Iron River, Michigan
. Grade level and assignment will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and endorsements.

• $44,739 - $77,205 annual starting salary based on education and years of experience.

• Plan, deliver, and assess instruction based on individual student needs.
• Provide differentiated instruction, accommodations, and interventions using student data.
• Support students with a variety of learning and special education needs.
• Create a structured, positive, and productive classroom environment.
• Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, families, and administrators.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction when needed.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare required reports.
• Use technology to manage records, analyze student data, and support instruction.

• Bachelor’s degree and valid Michigan Teaching Certificate is required.
• Special Education Teaching Endorsement(s) preferred.
• Experience helps, but heart matters just as much. Previous teaching experience is certainly valuable, but we’re also looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping students with special needs learn, grow, and succeed. A strong commitment to students, families, and continued learning matters just as much as the number of years you’ve spent in a classroom.
• Ability to deliver meaningful instruction for students with special education eligibility by adapting academic instruction, reinforcing positive behavior, and supporting individual learning needs.
• A professional, encouraging approach that helps motivate students, builds trust with families, and contributes positively to the school community.
• Strong time management, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to balance instruction, documentation, collaboration, and student needs.
• A willingness to keep learning, try new approaches, and continually strengthen your teaching practices to make a positive difference for students.
