This position is for an LRC Teacher at Paint Creek Elementary School. All candidates must be certified teachers with a special education endorsement. LRC teachers provide specialized academic support and services to students with identified learning needs and students experiencing academic concerns. The LRC Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, administrators, students, and families to ensure students receive appropriate instruction, interventions, accommodations, and supports.

The LRC Teacher serves as a key member of the school's student support team and plays an essential role in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other individualized supports.

Student Support & Instruction

• Provide specially designed instruction and targeted academic interventions to students based on individual learning needs.
• Work with students individually, in small groups, and/or within the general education classroom.
• Support students in identified areas of academic concern, including reading, writing, mathematics, executive functioning, organization, and other areas of need.
• Provide accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and interventions based on student data.
• Teach students strategies that promote independence, self-advocacy, organization, problem-solving, and successful access to the general education curriculum.
• Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and ownership of their learning.

IEP Development & Case Management

• Serve as case manager for assigned students.
• Lead and facilitate IEP meetings, including preparation, communication, documentation, and follow-up.
• Collaborate with the special education team, general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, students, and families in developing and implementing IEPs.
• Assist in gathering and analyzing student data to develop appropriate present levels of academic achievement and functional performance.

Qualifications:

• Must hold valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
• Must be certified to teach Special Education
• Learning Disabilities (SM) endorsement preferred
• Must meet NCLB requirements of a “Highly Qualified” Teacher
• Must be Highly Qualified in Math and English/Language Arts
