Overview
Kelly is seeking a traveling field service technician to service sites in the Midwest (MI, IN, OH, and IL). This is a long-term contract role with the potential for permanent hire.
Compensation ranges from $33 to $36 per hour and includes full benefits (Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance), 8 paid holidays, 3 weeks of PTO, 401K, and weekly pay. The position requires paid travel and involves approximately 10–20 hours of overtime per week (overtime paid at 1.5x base pay). Expect to travel about 90% of the time.
You will travel from site to site to provide service, maintenance, warranty remediation, and commissioning for installed photovoltaic inverters, energy storage, and plant controls.
Must have at least a year of commercial or utility-scale solar experience.
Company provides all tools, uniform, cell phone, paid travel, work vehicle, and reimbursement for meals and gas while traveling.
Responsibilities- Perform field service to ensure 99% uptime
- Diagnose and repair faulted inverters and energy storage systems
- Troubleshoot issues with mechanical, electromechanical, and controls
- Conduct annual periodic maintenance inspections
- Keep maintenance records of findings
- Assist with developing maintenance programs
- Perform start-up and commissioning for new PV inverter & energy storage installations
- Inspect physical installation (wiring, connections and mechanical condition)
- Power up, set all required parameters and ensure proper operation
- Monitor performance and efficiency levels
- Maintain high customer satisfaction levels by providing excellent customer service
- Provide accurate and timely product service reports
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum of 2 years industry work experience with inverters
- Ability and willingness to travel to and from customer locations – 90% to 100%
- 2-year technical degree and/or equivalent certification
- Great interpersonal, oral, and written skills
- Analytical and quantitative skills
- Solar or Wind industry service experience
- Customer oriented with professional demeanor
- Knowledge of power electronics and controls
- Knowledge of Modbus serial and Ethernet communications
