We are looking for someone who loves working outdoors and enjoys building relationships with customers. As a Service Lead Applicator, you'll spend your days helping customers improve the health and appearance of their ponds and lakes. You'll apply aquatic treatments, install and service fountains and aeration systems, and work independently to provide exceptional service. Our Service Lead Applicator is critical to providing our customers with quality service. The family dynamic at The Pond Guy extends to our customers as we strive to provide the best experiences possible. You’ll get detailed, on-the-job training to master processes regarding our products and customer service procedures.

Actual Work Examples
  • Manage nuisance algae and aquatic weeds onsite at customers’ ponds
  • Converse with customers onsite about their concerns, questions, and how they can proactively improve their pond’s quality
  • Apply aquatic herbicides and algaecides, assuring compliance with state and federal standards as well as EPA regulations
  • Install and maintain various aeration and fountain systems
  • Accurately maintain daily service logs electronically
  • Electronically complete service notes, including treatment approaches conducted, work orders/inventory used, and communicate repair trends to management
  • Work with equipment such as boats, four-wheelers, motors, winches, emergent cutters, etc.
  • Represent The Pond Guy professionally while delivering exceptional customer service in the field
Training

Don’t know about ponds? That’s ok! We provide all the training you need to excel. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone fully understands The Pond Guy’s proactive approach to pond management. Don’t worry, all training is paid.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:

  • Experience in chemical application and/or pesticides is preferred but is not required; we offer training and any certifications that are required
  • Knowledge of pond care and fish production is a bonus but not required
  • Experience in construction, landscaping, or horticulture is a plus but not required
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, outgoing, and pleasant, with a focus on safety and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Will require the ability to receive a Chauffer’s license and DOT card
  • Ability to operate a boat and drive a truck and trailer will be required after training

Because this position involves a variety of tasks, the physical requirements for both in-office and in-the-field environments are necessary. The service lead applicator role requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk, and looking at a computer screen for long periods. This position also requires the ability to swim, perform repetitive motions for extended periods; demonstrate manual dexterity when working with small components;

frequently bend, stoop, and stand for long durations; lift, lower, and carry packages typically weighing 25–50 lbs; and handle packages up to 150 lbs with assistance. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, etc., for portions of the…
