Job SummaryResponsible to the assigned supervisor for performing advanced engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This position is posted in a range; an offer will be made based on candidate qualifications.
What You’ll Do- EFIN engineers provide engineering support and analysis to interfacing organizations including planning, maintenance, and operations.
- Respond to Evaluation Requests for work that requires engineering resources or subject matter expertise in assistance of Planning, Maintenance, or Operations.
- Support investigations and troubleshooting activities, including Failure Investigations and Issue Resolution Teams.
- Develop Engineering Changes (modifications), calculation development and review, design verification, and 50.59 screenings. Work with systems, electrical systems and components, instrumentation and controls.
- Work in‑person is required to support collaboration and close interface with supported departments.
- EFIN support on nights and weekends may be necessary during failure investigations and outages. Refueling outages will require shift coverage.
- Technical Expertise – entry‑level knowledge to solve well‑defined problems or provide analysis under guidance.
- Leadership & Guidance – coordinate work of others, follow policies, seek assistance, assume leadership roles.
- Planning & Organization – provide input to project planning documents, monitor status, prepare cost estimates, develop workflow.
- Problem Solving & Initiative – seek information, apply basic techniques, propose new ideas.
- Communication – prepare reports, present ideas clearly, listen and clarify.
- Interpersonal Skills – network, collaborate, be a team player.
- Decision Making – autonomous decisions within scope, develop skills under guidance.
- Business Awareness – listen to customers, use economic analysis, protect environment, stay professional involvement.
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in engineering, program accredited by ABET. Master’s/PhD with ABET‑accredited bachelor’s is acceptable. Non‑ABET bachelor’s can be paired with master’s/PhD from ABET‑accredited program; VP or above may waive requirement.
- Experience – Entry level for new graduates; 4+ years experience for Salary Grade 7; 6+ years for Grade 8; 8+ years for Grade 9. Each grade includes ABET requirement accordingly.
- Professional Engineer (PE) – registration in any U.S. state or PR is encouraged for lower grades, required for Grade 9 unless waived.
- Residency – must establish permanent residence within 45‑minute safe drive to D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.
Competitive compensation ranging from $74,551 to $151,132, along with a comprehensive benefits package. The position is in D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.
Physical Demand LevelS – Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
