Job DescriptionThe Durability Engineer serves as the voice of the customer and is responsible for vehicle durability testing to ensure that all potential customer issues are identified, reported, and resolved before product launch.
JobResponsibilities Include:
- Responsible for supporting vehicle durability testing – providing initial RCA for technical vehicle issues
- Triage of CEL's and DTCs to root cause issue, identify contributors such as wiring, hardware, or system, provide vehicle scan report, and timestamp of incident for review.
- Update vehicles with the latest System as new releases are available
- Review of driver comments to identify issues and initiate root cause analysis of the issue
- Daily/weekly inspection of vehicles to identify component deterioration and potential failures
- Assessment of component failures, documenting the issue, the condition of surrounding parts, and the potential sequence of events leading to failure
- Document issues in PGTIS (Engineering Notes), share findings at the weekly pending issues meeting, provide photos, component test cycles/mileage, severity of issue, and request for replacement parts
- Upgrade components, documenting installation time, guidance on the installation process through clear and detailed work orders, and review prior to returning to test
- Assist with the analysis of all vehicle performance.
- Conduct hands-on vehicle evaluations throughout the test
- Use powertrain vehicle diagnostic tools to assist in root cause analysis
- Report and document vehicle issues and observations
- Ensure compliance with common business practices
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience or related field
- Strong understanding of automotive/vehicle fundamentals - specifically in electrical or powertrain, or chassis
- High level of problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point
- 100% at Chelsea Proving Grounds
