Tooling Engineer - St. Johns Area

Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

• Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of production tooling.
• Diagnose and resolve tooling-related issues to minimize production downtime.
• Collaborate with production and design teams to ensure tool functionality and manufacturability.
• Evaluate and implement new tooling technologies and materials for process improvement.
• Manage the procurement, validation, and lifecycle of new and existing tooling assets.
• Develop and maintain tooling specifications, documentation, and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Conduct root cause analysis for tooling failures and implement corrective actions.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in tooling design, development, and troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for tooling design and simulation.
• Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, stamping, casting) and their associated tooling requirements.
• Knowledge of tool steels, carbides, and other tooling materials, including heat treatment and surface coatings.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze tooling performance, implement improvements, and resolve production issues.

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or mold flow simulation software.
• Certification or proven experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes for tooling applications.
• In-depth knowledge of advanced tooling materials, coatings, and heat treatment processes.
