Overview
Packaging Engineer | Coopersville, MI
Salary Range: $75,000 - $114,000 depending on experience
We are collaborating with companies in Coopersville seeking experienced Packaging Engineers.
Responsibilities- Design and develop innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions for new and existing products.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of packaging materials, components, and finished packages to ensure product integrity and protection.
- Optimize packaging processes and specifications to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain teams to integrate packaging requirements into product development cycles.
- Ensure all packaging designs and materials comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
- Source, evaluate, and qualify new packaging materials, suppliers, and equipment to enhance capabilities and achieve business objectives.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for packaging-related issues on the production floor and throughout the supply chain.
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in packaging development, design, or engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) and packaging material science (plastics, paperboard, glass, metals).
- Strong understanding of packaging machinery, automation, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of packaging testing standards (ISTA, ASTM) and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP).
- Proven ability to optimize packaging for cost, sustainability, performance, and manufacturability.
- Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- Experience leading sustainable packaging development initiatives.
- Proficiency with advanced packaging simulation software (e.g., CAPE, TOPS).
- Direct experience supporting packaging line automation and integration projects.
