Laser Weld Engineer | Newaygo, MI
Salary Range: $86,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Newaygo region seeking Laser Weld Engineers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize laser welding processes for various manufacturing applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve laser weld defects, including porosity, cracking, and distortion.
- Implement process controls and statistical process control (SPC) for laser welding operations.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of products.
- Develop and execute weld schedules, parameters, and tooling for new product introductions.
- Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of laser welded joints.
- Train and mentor production personnel on laser welding techniques and best practices.
- Stay current with advancements in laser technology and welding processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Welding).
- 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment.
- Proven ability to develop and optimize laser weld parameters for various materials.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and weld defect analysis.
- Experience with CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with advanced laser technologies (e.g., fiber, picosecond, femtosecond lasers).
- Familiarity with robotic automation and vision systems for laser welding.
- Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
- Knowledge of material science, metallurgy, and their impact on laser weldability.
- Proficiency in CAD software for fixture design and weld path programming.
