Laser Weld Engineer | Coopersville, MI
Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Coopersville that are seeking skilled Laser Weld Engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
- Design and implement laser weld tooling and fixtures.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality.
- Conduct material characterization and mechanical testing of welded components.
- Establish and maintain laser welding process documentation and control plans.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials Science, Welding, or related field).
- 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and material science as applied to welding dissimilar metals and various alloys.
- Proficiency in using and programming laser welding systems (e.g., fiber lasers, Nd:
YAG lasers). - Experience with weld quality inspection techniques (e.g., destructive/non-destructive testing, metallography).
- Demonstrated ability to optimize weld parameters, troubleshoot process issues, and improve manufacturing yields.
- Experience with robotic automation and programming (e.g., ABB, Fanuc)
- Familiarity with optical systems and laser delivery components
- Knowledge of metallography and material characterization techniques
- ASNT Level II or III certification in Visual Testing (VT) or Radiographic Testing (RT)
