IATF Quality Engineer | Newaygo, MI

Salary Range: $78,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain IATF 16949 compliant quality management systems.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external IATF 16949 audits, driving corrective actions.
  • Utilize core quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) for new product development and process improvement.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (8D, 5 Whys).
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee supplier quality, including qualification, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Develop and deliver quality training programs to manufacturing personnel.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of IATF 16949 standards and core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Proven ability to lead problem-solving initiatives using methodologies like 8D, 5 Whys, or Fishbone diagrams.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CSSBB) are highly desirable.
Bonus Qualifications
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification
  • Experience with AIAG Core Tools training and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and Minitab
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and Lean principles
