Tooling Engineer | Newaygo, MI
Salary Range: $73,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize tooling for manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify tooling needs and improve existing designs.
- Conduct root cause analysis of tooling failures and implement corrective actions.
- Manage tooling procurement, inventory, and maintenance programs.
- Evaluate new materials and manufacturing technologies for tooling applications.
- Develop and maintain tooling specifications and documentation.
- Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel on tooling best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in tooling design, development, and optimization within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA, AutoCAD) for tooling design and simulation.
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, injection molding, casting, machining) and their associated tooling requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with DFM/DFA principles and their application to tooling solutions.
- Knowledge of materials science, heat treatment, and surface finishes relevant to tooling performance and longevity.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and manufacturing (e.g., Solid Works, Catia, Mastercam).
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond injection molding, such as stamping, casting, or machining.
- Knowledge of metrology tools and techniques for inspecting and validating tooling (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
- Certification in a relevant field (e.g., Certified Manufacturing Technologist, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt).
