Tooling Engineer | Spring Lake, MI

Salary Range: $72,000 - $111,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Spring Lake that are seeking Tooling Engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Designs and develops tooling, fixtures, and jigs for manufacturing processes.
• Collaborates with design and production teams to optimize tooling for new products.
• Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for tooling issues.
• Manages tooling projects from concept to completion, including budget and timeline.
• Selects and specifies appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for tooling.
• Develops and maintains tooling documentation, including drawings and specifications.
• Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs for tooling.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, and maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, CATIA) for tooling design and analysis.
• Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, materials, and their impact on tooling design and performance.
• Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling-related issues.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and analysis (e.g., Solid Works, Catia, Moldflow).
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond injection molding (e.g., stamping, casting, CNC machining).
• Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Ability to perform basic statistical analysis for process control and improvement.
