Welding Engineer | Plainwell, MI
Salary Range: $76,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize welding procedures for manufacturing processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
- Evaluate and select appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and automation solutions.
- Provide technical support and training to welding technicians and manufacturing personnel.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations for welding operations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years experience in welding engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) or equivalent certification.
- Proficient in various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW) and metallurgy.
- Demonstrated experience with NDE techniques and quality control in welding.
- Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX).
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Experience with robotic welding systems and programming.
- Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods beyond visual inspection.
- Project management experience, particularly for capital equipment upgrades or new process implementation.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) for fixture design and analysis.
