We are seeking an enthusiastic piping designer with experience supporting power generation and heavy industrial projects to be based in Newport Michigan at DTE Fermi Power Plant.

The successful applicant can look forward to projects including working on new-build simple and combined-cycle power plants and developing plant modifications on projects throughout the United States and Canada.

• Under minimal supervision, design medium to complex mechanical / piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools.
• Fully understand the process of design development, preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
• Be knowledgeable in the design of plant mechanical and piping systems, able to develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plans, piping orthographic and isometric drawings.
• Have a basic understanding of engineer’s design development process.
• Understand the purpose and use of vendor documents and review mechanical supplier documents for accuracy.
• Help coordinate mechanical / piping design activities working with other discipline groups.

• Associate degree in piping design (technical field) or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant design experience beyond associate degree in power plant piping and support design.
• Proficiency with Auto Desk Plant 3D, P& AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Bentley Micro Station.
