Job Description
This position is responsible for working with management and UAW employees to develop and implement Lean processes and process improvements which integrate people, materials, equipment, and information. The objective is to improve quality, profitability and delivery in a safe and ergonomically friendly working environment.

About the RoleIn this role the Industrial Engineer (IE) will be part of the Continuous Improvement (CI) Team. The CI Team determines and prioritizes projects that will enable the team to meet their established objectives. The CI Team works with outside consultants and other Veritas sites in the selection process and leads larger Lean Events to implement the changes on the chosen projects.
The CI Team will train the Kaizen Team in established Lean methodology and will lead the Kaizen team in determining and implementing improvement activities. The CI Team will lead in preparation and delivery of a presentation for each project to management and UAW shop committee and are responsible for sustaining all lean initiatives.
- Study processes using various techniques including video and manual observation.
- Compile data to aid in the selection of projects. The data will also be used as the baseline for improvements as a result of the Kaizen events.
- Assist in training Kaizen team members in Lean methodology and will help direct the Kaizen Team during events.
- Provide primary assistance in preparation and delivery of the presentation for each project.
- Responsible for updating Standard Work based on the results of the Kaizen event and writing Notice of Change (NOC) to formally implement changes (prints, control plan, routing, etc.) for each Kaizen Event.
- Aid in closure of open issues from the Kaizen Events and sustaining results.
- Control floor layout and be in charge of leading machine move outs and laying out of new process machines.
- Able to lead Lean Events consisting of management and UAW members
- Able to work effectively on their own (self-starter)
- Able to communicate objectives and results of Kaizen events to management, UAW Shop Committee and UAW members
- Able to train and educate small groups of associates
- Bachelor of Science Degree (Industrial, Systems or Mechanical Engineer preferred) or equivalent work experience
- Strong communication skills
- Strong Excel and Power Point skills
- CAD experience (Solidworks and Auto Cad a plus)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
- Occasionally will be required to work afternoon and midnight shifts.
- Will be required to work extended hours.
