Engineer

The Quality Engineer reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes, products, and systems meet internal quality standards. This role supports continuous improvement initiatives by applying quality tools, analyzing data, driving corrective and preventive actions, and maintaining compliance with applicable quality standards. The engineer will guide and assist manufacturing personnel, field installation teams, and the broader Daifuku organization.

Responsibilities
  • Identification of processes, electrical, mechanical, and welding.
  • Determination of criteria and methods to ensure process operation & control.
  • Process improvement resulting in measurable data.
  • Problem solving and mistake proofing.
  • FMEA (Process & Design).
  • Utilization of Corrective Action System.
  • Tooling Management.
  • Conduct internal quality audits.
  • Compile and provide reports regarding nonconformance/corrective action data.
  • Train employees in quality concepts and work instructions.
  • Administrate document control procedures for all quality related documents.
  • Facilitate internal and participate in third‑party ISO/QS audits.
  • Assist with statistical process control activities and data analysis for manufacturing facilities and suppliers.
  • Assist with measuring and testing product manufacturing techniques, test readiness, and documentation of failures, root cause, and corrective action.
  • Conduct or assign personnel to perform product/process inspections at vendor sites and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Production and processing – knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques to maximize effective manufacture and distribution.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical curriculum or associate’s degree with 2 years of experience in statistical techniques or 4 years on the job in decision‑making positions or six years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Short‑term travel – including supplier visits, customer visits, and facilities.
  • Computer proficiency and efficient use of Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, QS 9000, and TE supplement.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools, data collection techniques, and ability to analyze and interpret statistical data.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, FTA, DOE, QFD.
  • Ability to use problem‑solving skills, organization, multitasking, and training skills.
  • Ability to read and evaluate existing technical and service data.
  • Knowledge of Daifuku operations and products helpful.
