Tool & Die Engineer
The Tool & Die Engineer will work in the press room, leading a team of seven tool makers to ensure timely completion of projects. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting dies and presses, with a focus on progressive machines. The engineer will manage work orders, initiate and close them, order materials, and support cross-functional teams in troubleshooting down presses and dies.
Responsibilities- Lead a team of tool makers to ensure project timelines are met.
- Maintain and troubleshoot dies and presses in the press room.
- Manage, initiate, and close work orders effectively.
- Order materials and ensure availability for projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues with down presses and dies.
- Specify, quote, purchase, and oversee the runoff of capital equipment, tooling, and manufacturing systems.
- Track and improve press room performance using metrics.
- Purchase new dies and capital equipment based on the yearly budget.
- Design new tooling using Solidworks and occasionally Creo and AutoCAD.
- Monitor toolroom workflow and assign work based on job orders, blueprints, and production priorities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance programs for presses, fixtures, and tooling.
- Proficiency in Solidworks for tooling design.
- 8+ years of experience in troubleshooting dies and presses.
- Project management and leadership experience.
- Experience with progressive dies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Creo and AutoCAD.
- Machining skills.
- Experience as a Tool Maker.
Work Environment
Schedule:
7:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- one-hour lunch break
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hastings, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $50.48/hr.
