Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Plainwell seeking Laser Weld Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser weld tooling and fixtures.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
• Establish and maintain laser welding process parameters and documentation.
• Provide technical support and training to production personnel on laser welding equipment and processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Welding) or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of laser-material interactions, weld metallurgy, and common welding defects.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
• Experience with process development, optimization, and validation for laser welding applications.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced laser technologies (e.g., ultrafast lasers, fiber lasers beyond standard CW).
• Proficiency in optical design software (e.g., Zemax, FRED) for beam delivery optimization.
• Background in metallurgy or materials science with a focus on weldability of diverse alloys.
• Familiarity with robotic programming and automation for laser welding applications.
• Certification in NDT methods (e.g., visual inspection, X-ray, UT) relevant to weld quality assessment.
