Projects are almost exclusively high performance, and scope can range from developing a sub‑system to a full vehicle. Degreed engineers with broad program experiences, strong foundations in systems thinking, strong and scalable analytical approaches, and an unrelenting physics and engineering fundamentals backbone are ideal for the Design Engineering Manager.
- Lead design engineering efforts with a team using CAD and FEA tools, develop timing plans and task tracking, risk mitigation focused on project deliverables.
- Lead regular project meetings, both internally and with the customer, to ensure team alignment, consistent communication, and successful project execution.
- Formal technical reporting on project status to the customer.
- Manages professional employees and/or team leads.
- Experience in prototype and production design and manufacturing.
- System requirements development and decomposition to components.
- Key life testing, failure analysis, root cause analysis, design verification, and QA plans.
- Define team operating standards and ensure essential procedures are followed.
- Lead department technology growth and develop training plans.
- System and component design and/or reviews using parametric CAD tools.
- System and component modeling and/or reviews using Finite Element Analysis tools.
- CAE optimization methods and tools.
- Lead system level modeling and simulations efforts.
- Working level background in MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong technical writing, team leadership skills, and organizational skills.
- This specific role supports a US DoD topic that is restricted to US Citizens.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
