Responsibilities
- Lead design engineering efforts with a team using CAD and FEA tools, developing timing plans and task tracking, and performing risk mitigation focused on project deliverables.
- Lead regular project meetings, both internally and with customers, to ensure team alignment, consistent communication, and successful project execution.
- Provide formal technical reporting on project status to the customer.
- Manage professional employees and/or team leads.
- Oversee prototype and production design and manufacturing activities.
- Develop system requirements and decompose them into component specifications.
- Execute key life‑testing, failure analysis, root‑cause analysis, design verification, and QA planning.
- Define team operating standards and ensure essential procedures are followed.
- Lead department technology growth and develop training plans.
- Perform system and component design and/or reviews using parametric CAD tools.
- Conduct system and component modeling and/or reviews using Finite Element Analysis tools.
- Apply CAE optimization methods and tools.
- Lead system‑level modeling and simulation efforts.
- Support business development including project quoting.
- BS or MS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive.
- 8+ years of engineering experience with a focus on the automotive, defense, powersports, or robotics industries.
- Previous engineering leadership experience.
- Strong technical writing, team leadership, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working‑level background in MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; this role supports a U.S. DoD topic restricted to U.S. citizens.
- Experience generating engineering proposals and work estimations.
- Advanced degree (MS) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering.
- Experience with Creo, NX, Catia, or Solid Works CAD.
- Experience with Windchill or Teamcenter PLM.
- Experience in parametric 3D modeling and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Proficiency with ANSYS, Hypermesh, or other FEA tools.
- Experience with Dymola or other dynamic system modeling tools.
- Active security clearance.
- Strong systems‑thinking and analytical approach.
- Hands‑on experience with prototype and low‑volume production design.
Ability to support technicians and shop builds, operate simple hand tools, and lift or move light equipment as required.
Expected Hours of Work8am–4pm core (minimum) work hours (typically 45hrs per week on average). Project surge support and additional effort may be required to meet deadlines. Some travel may be required for customer and supplier meetings, off‑site training, testing, and industry conferences.
Work EnvironmentWork will typically be performed in a team‑based office environment. Collaborative, challenging projects provide opportunities to learn from a wide range of expertise.
Pay Range$ – $. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and equity among team members.
