Forest Area Federal Credit Union is seeking a full-time Mortgage Underwriter to join the team at our Fife Lake, MI location. This on-site role involves evaluating mortgage loan applications to assess creditworthiness and compliance with lending regulations. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing financial documentation, analyzing credit reports, verifying borrower eligibility, and ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. The Mortgage Underwriter will collaborate with loan officers, recommend loan approvals or denials, and ensure accurate and timely processing of loan applications while providing excellent service to our members.
Qualifications- Comprehensive knowledge of Mortgage Underwriting, Mortgage Industry, and Mortgages
- Strong expertise in Underwriting policies, principles, and best practices
- Highly developed Analytical Skills to assess financial documents and identify loan risk
- Attention to detail and ability to apply lending regulations and compliance standards
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with members and colleagues
- Prior experience in a mortgage or financial institution setting is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field is advantageous
