Job Responsibilities About the Role Your ResponsibilitiesThe position of the Controller is responsible for all finance matters in a managerial capacity and is responsible for the general and specific job duties as described below:
- Supports the finance function, ensuring the integrity of the accounting policies and standards, the financial governance of the company and the internal control environment.
- Implements changes in accounting policies as driven by Magna and ensures existing Magna accounting policies are applied to the company.
- Review and participate in the preparation of the company’s financial results, monthly/quarterly/annually vs. the budget and forecast.
- Responsible for reporting, including journal entry review, monthly reconciliation review, key account analysis, and variance reporting (including budget to actual analysis).
- Financial analysis:
Prepare and provide financial reports to support decision-making and assess financial performance (KPI analysis, project expense analysis, cost tracking, etc.) - Provide leadership and direction to the finance department, ensuring effective goal setting, performance monitoring and reviews, communication and training/development plans.
- Review and participate in Tax management, reporting to Corporate Tax Group, Sales/Use tax reporting, Property tax filings, 1099’s and manage relationship with Property Tax consulting firm.
- Ensures system of Internal Control, documentation, and reviews are being performed.
- Responsible for managing and review of Capital Expenditure process. Advise internal team on capitalization requirements, review capital packages Quote Capital spending.
- Liaise with the internal and external audit team during annual and quarterly reviews, includes review and preparation of audit schedules.
- Review and/or prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Directly manages employees in Accounting.
- Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with Magna’s policies and applicable laws
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Finance expert with a minimum of 5 years related operational experience within Accounting and Controlling (Accounting experience is a must, controlling experience Beneficial)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Inventory control, general and cost accounting
- Knowledge of SOX mandates, financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and analytical skills.
- Profound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; advance knowledge of Excel required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting plus 5 years’ experience with at least three years in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent, preferably in manufacturing.
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
