Job Overview

This position is the Director of the Tax Compliance Bureau for the Michigan Department of Treasury. The role offers the opportunity to work remotely three days per week with a flexible/hybrid schedule.

• Lead the full administration of compliance activities including taxpayer audits, voluntary disclosure, fraud prevention and tax enforcement.
• Establish and implement standards, policies, procedures, and protocols to increase compliance with Michigan’s tax laws.
• Set the strategic direction of the Bureau and ensure alignment with Treasury goals.
• Champion continuous improvement of operations, customer service, and inclusion and diversity efforts.

• Education:
  
  Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.
• Experience:
  
  Two years of professional managerial experience; qualifying professional experience is considered only after the bachelor’s degree.

• Eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays; onsite work required Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Must work in the state of Michigan; relocation required for out-of-state residents. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

This position requires a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075 due to access to Federal Tax Information.

• The use of artificial intelligence software is prohibited.
• The Department participates in E-Verify and will provide your I-9 information to the federal government.
