Personal Financial Counselor; Augusta, MI

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate, publicize and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle, including arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web‑based, secure online chat, video‑based communications) where authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations to which the counselor is assigned.
• Participate in regular in‑services/training, quality improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree required (may be substituted with an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience).
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English (bilingual in English and Spanish may be required).
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Minimum: $58,440;
Salary Maximum: $93,500. The position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, voluntary and other benefits.
