This position is seasonal. Work is performed during the live racing season on September 1, 2, 8, 9, 16, 17, 22, 23, 29 & 30. This position serves as the laborer for the Horse Racing Section. The duties consist of collecting urine samples from racehorses. Samples collected are a part of the evidentiary procedure; thus, all samples collected are considered as possible evidence in the event that a sample is analyzed and proves to be a positive identification of a drug or unreported controlled medication.
This position also assists the veterinarian with their duties as needed.

Education and Experience:
Education No specific amount of formal education is required. Experience Laborer 5 No specific type or amount is required. Laborer E6 One year of experience performing duties involving the use of hand tools and motorized machinery equivalent to a Laborer 5.

In accordance with Civil Service Regulation 2.07, an individual may be sanctioned from applying to State of Michigan vacancies, permanently or up to (3) three years, should you fail to pass/submit to the pre-employment drug test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, if you make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process.
