This is a two-year, limited term, contractual position. Incumbents may be re-appointed to additional terms.
OverviewThis position functions as the commanding officer of the Intelligence Operations Division. The responsibilities of this position include the overall administration of the Intelligence Operations Division, which includes the Operations Section, Michigan Intelligence Operations Center, and the Cyber Section. The position provides liaison between state police and local, state, and federal agencies and supports MSP field operations. This position will perform functions in a bias free manner.

- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
- Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement supervisory experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
- Two years of professional experience as a manager or program/staff specialist or equivalent experience.
Applicants will be rated and screened on the following criteria:
- Written Communication: demonstrated writing ability, including organization, style, accuracy, and attention to detail, as demonstrated in the resume and cover letter/memo attached to the application. Format must follow MSP Style Guide standards.
- Work Experience:
diverse experience with field operations such as managing a district or division within MSP. - Administrative
Experience:
diverse experience including budgeting, policy development, project coordination, and operating within deadlines. - Supervisory
Experience:
experience in managing large groups of people, both civilian and enlisted alike. - Community Involvement: experience collaborating effectively with local community officials, law enforcement personnel, and other external agencies.
Applicants must be eligible for selection pursuant to Official Order 03-41 – Impact of discipline or corrective action on selection eligibility. Applicants must also be able to perform the essential duties of the job upon appointment.
