Police Officer

The Bedford Police Department is seeking applicants for the position of Police Officer. Duties include enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as ordinances of the Town of Bedford. Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain Virginia certification as a law enforcement officer, must pass a rigorous background investigation, a physical agility and written aptitude test, a psychological and physical examination.

Candidates with current Virginia law enforcement certification or who are currently attending pre‑employment certification programs will be given preference. Qualified minority applicants are also strongly encouraged to apply.

NOTE:

Applications alone for Police Officer are not sufficient. An information packet must be picked up and filled out along with the Town of Bedford Employment Application. This packet can be picked up in the Town of Bedford HR Department or Police Department. Packets may also be requested by telephone at  or via email: police.
