Departmental Analyst; Trainee; P11​/SSB​/IOD​/MIOC​/ATPA

This position will apply all phases of the intelligence cycle to assist all teams associated with the Auto Theft Prevention Authority (ATPA) with investigative case support. Conduct thorough and rigorous research, produce briefings, accurate workups, presentations, and other products designed to satisfy fully customer needs. Disseminate intelligence to appropriate consumers of interest in accordance with established guidelines, procedures, and protocols. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with analytic counterparts and law enforcement colleagues.

This position will perform functions in a bias free manner.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

No specific type or amount is required.

One year of professional experience.

Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

• Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
• Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
• Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.
• Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
• One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

* Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate's degree or two years of college.

College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
