Summary of Benefits at Bloomfield TownshipBloomfield Township offers a competitive benefits package for full-time employees, emphasizing health, financial security, and work-life balance.
Health Insurance: Employees receive Cigna PPO coverage with low premiums—$50/single or $100/family per pay period—and annual deductibles of $2,000/single and $4,000/family. Opt-out incentives include $3,000 (single) or $6,000 (family). Additional health perks include dental, vision, telehealth, and wellness rewards up to $150. The Township also contributes to a Health Savings Accounts: $1,500 for singles and $3,000 for families.
Disability & Life Insurance: The Township provides a $50,000 employee life insurance with a $50,000 accidental death/dismemberment rider, along with $5,000 coverage for your spouse and $2,500 for dependent children. The Short Term Disability benefit includes 70% of weekly pay and the Long Term Disability benefit is 66.67% of monthly pay, at no cost to you.
Retirement Plans: The Township contributes 14% to a defined contribution plan (401a) that is fully vested after 7 years. We also offer a retiree health savings plan with a $3,000 annual contribution for the first 5 years by the Township and a mandatory employee contribution. This benefit increases to $4,500 a year for years 5 to 15 years, and then $6,000 per year over 15 years of service.

Job DescriptionAt time of interview candidate must possess:
- State of Michigan Firefighter 1 & 2 Certification
- State of Michigan Basic EMT license (Paramedic license or enrolled in a Paramedic program Preferred)
- Minimum 15 credit hours from accredited college / university
- Successful passing of the Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) Firefighter Testing Program, Written and CPAT (Empco written may be substituted for Western Wayne written).
- Candidates must also pass drug screening, background investigation, psychological exam, multiple oral interviews and post offer physical
