The Central Sterile/Supply Technician will accurately perform quality control checks on instruments and equipment, and ensure that sterilization meets standard quality criteria.
EssentialJob Duties
The Technician is responsible for making rounds to assure equipment is properly charged for usage, accurately maintaining all sterile or clean supplies, and issuing them to nursing units on request. They must demonstrate proficiency in flashing techniques, decontaminate, assemble and wrap instruments and trays for sterilization, assemble a wide variety of instrument sets, maintain a log of missing instruments, and sign the instrument set list according to protocol.
The Technician refers to surgeon preference cards when setting up trays and prioritizes instrumentation needs based on the surgical schedule.
- One (1) year experience in a surgical department at an acute care facility (required)
- Sterile Processing certification or National Surgical Technician certification (required)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained through AHA (American Heart Association) (required)
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor certification within one year of employment (required)
