Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist for a 13‑week travel assignment in Rose City, Michigan. Required Qualifications
  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology
  • Experience in speech–language pathology; new graduates welcome to apply
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required
Summary

The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. Working in diverse settings, the SLP develops individualized treatment plans aimed at enhancing speech, language, and cognitive‑communication abilities. SLP collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers to improve communication outcomes and quality of life.

Essential Work Functions
  • Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observation to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population.
  • Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence‑based practices.
  • Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home‑based exercises, and safe swallowing practices, while offering supportive counseling as required.
  • Work with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients’ comfort needs during therapy sessions.
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in speech‑language therapy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and possess proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities
  • Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills
  • Work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) while presenting a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills
  • Grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements
  • Coping with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
  • Work under close supervision occasionally, as well as independently
  • Handle irregular activity schedules occasionally and maintain continuous concentration to detail
Sensory
  • Possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
