Summary
This position is an integral part of the urgent care team and requires the ability to work effectively with providers and ancillary staff to deliver high quality, compassionate patient care. Under the direct supervision of the provider, the radiographer will be responsible for providing quality x‑rays to allow for accurate radiologic diagnosis with the least amount of radiation exposure to the patient.
The role also includes patient assessment, procedures, and education within the urgent care/occupational health setting. The radiographer must have basic knowledge of specialty and/or primary care symptom management to assess, plan, and deliver timely and appropriate care, especially in emergent situations. Compliance with all My Michigan Health policies, OSHA guidelines, CLIA regulations, and other applicable regulatory agencies is required. The radiographer may participate in training of new employees, students, and float staff, and may perform general office duties such as typing, filing, telephone, and computer administration as required by the practice.
- (25%) Performs radiographic procedures using accurate ionizing radiation application for radiologic diagnosis; adjusts technical factors to achieve appropriate exposures and follows My Michigan Health radiology protocols.
- (25%) Positions patient and equipment accurately to demonstrate the area examined, adjusts equipment for quality film with minimal exposure, and provides radiation protection for patient and staff.
- (25%) Greets patients/families, obtains vital signs, collects medical, social, surgical, medication history and allergy information, prepares patients for examinations, performs procedures (urinalysis, pregnancy testing, strep screens, EKG, TB testing, etc.) and reports results to providers.
- (10%) Accurately documents all patient information in the medical record according to current guidelines.
- (10%) Assists provider with examinations and procedures.
- (5%) Prepares and cleans the patient area, sets up equipment, cleans and facilitates room setup after a procedure, disposes of contaminated supplies and sterilizes instruments.
- Cleans and disinfects x‑ray room and equipment after each patient use.
- Provides a complete patient assessment as indicated within the scope of practice.
- Demonstrates competency in additional procedures such as venipuncture, orthopedic casting, electrocardiogram (EKG), pulmonary function test (PFT), audiometry, vision testing, dressing changes, respirator fit testing, and drug/alcohol testing.
- Performs respirator fit testing per OSHA regulations.
- Ensures compliance with company protocols, departmental policies, MIOSHA, CLIA, Joint Commission, FMCSA guidelines.
- Performs autoclave procedure according to policy, maintains a stocked, clean, sterile and safe environment, and may travel to satellite clinics.
- Demonstrates critical thinking for patient management and maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Completes clerical duties such as insurance forms, correspondence, arranging hospital admission, telephone answering, updating or filing medical records, ordering supplies and medications.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement projects, equipment checks, and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
- Orders all medical, pharmacy and office supplies to manage patient care.
- Ensures all Electronic Medical Record (EMR) tasks are completed timely.

- ARRT – Registered Radiologic Technologist:
Must be registered or eligible within 6 months of hire. - BLS – Basic Life Support:
Must obtain credential within 3 months of hire or transfer. - TEAM ADVANCED – Techniques for Effective Aggression Management:
Must obtain credential within 6 months of hire; employees who were in this position on or before 12/31/2023 have 24 months to complete the certification.
