Job Summary

Susan P. Wheatlake Cancer Center – Reed City – Part time 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Registered Dietitian’s primary responsibilities include direct patient care through application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP). This includes completing the nutrition assessment, determining the nutrition diagnosis, developing evidence‑based interventions (including nutrition prescriptions such as diet/feeding orders), coordinating medical nutrition therapy services, monitoring and evaluating nutrition status, and providing nutrition counseling and education for both inpatient and outpatient populations.

The RD collaborates confidently and respectfully with patients and the interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional care and maintains effective working relationships that contribute to a culture of safe, high‑quality care.

• Operate as a competent RD with minimal supervision, performing the Nutrition Care Process and Nutrition Focused Physical Exam as appropriate for high quality patient care.
• Document and maintain records according to the SOP for the RDN, legislation, regulations, and organization policies.
• Serve as a mentor by precepting and teaching dietetic interns and other students such as medical students.
• Collaborate with the Manager, Nutrition Services at least four hours every 60 days (specific to Rehabilitation & Nursing Centers).
• Maintain clinical productivity standards and accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, including scheduling and billing information.
• Advocate for patient care and support a culture of nutrition through confident interaction with the interdisciplinary team.
• Coordinate services related to Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients.
• Contribute to and engage in improving departmental and organizational metrics.
• May engage in communication and interactions with the media on issues related to the focus area or other advanced clinical areas.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
• Certified Registered Dietitian (CRD‑Registered Dietitian) – CDR Commission on Dietetic Registration 180 days.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

• Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
