Title: Medical Assistant – Full Time, 40 hrs/week – Bronson Family Medicine, Paw Paw, MI

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
    Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
  • CMA / CCMA / RMA certification.
  • Eligibility to take CMA/RMA must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Note:

    Vocational Coordinator determines eligibility requirements for CMA or RMA within 6 months.
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
  • Knowledge of clinical skills as required with Medical Assistant Certification/Registration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Personal computer skills with experience in EMR highly desirable; able to input and retrieve data from the organization's computerized systems.
  • Ability to work independently and function as an integral team member with other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
  • Provide general nursing functions for the practice under provider’s direction.
  • Record vital signs, immunizations, and conduct initial patient assessment.
  • Obtain concise patient history and provide various clinical information and support to providers.
  • Process and post patient information to the chart; educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, and care.
  • Perform laboratory tests as directed by the physician, including specimen collection for urine testing, phlebotomy, and other labs.
  • Administer treatments and procedures requested by the physician and set up and assist physician with procedures such as laceration repair, PAP/pelvic exams, etc.
  • Schedule outside tests or procedures (X‑ray, MRI, etc.) and provide appropriate instructions to patients.
  • Coordinate admissions, referrals, call in prescriptions, and assist with inventory of supplies.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments in the EMR system and screen calls to determine urgency.
  • Assist in completion of miscellaneous patient forms (Worker Compensation, Disability, etc.).
  • Attend staff, educational or other meetings as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by nurses, practice manager, or physician.
  • Work in a setting that includes moving patients, standing for prolonged periods, and use of a computer at 40‑70% of time; perform tasks that require alertness and concentration.
Benefits and Compensation
  • Shift: First Shift – Full Time.
  • Sign‑On Bonus (External Candidates Only):
    Up to $1,500.00.
  • Retention Bonus (External Candidates Only): $1,500.00.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
