Practice Support Assistant (Clinic Receptionist)
Full Time, 40 hours per week

Location:

- Answer phones, greet patients, and provide courteous customer service.
- Assist patients with check‑in, schedule appointments, and coordinate tests and referrals.
- Register patients and confirm demographic and insurance information using the practice management system.
- Determine co‑payments, verify insurance electronically, and collect payments.
- Enter charges and payments into MISYS/Tiger (or similar) and prepare encounter forms with correct ICD‑9 and CPT codes.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient medical records per required standards.
- Obtain patient authorizations for transfer of private health information.
- Perform basic office duties: sort and distribute mail, copy, file, fax, order supplies, and complete forms.
- Compose, format, type, and proofread standard correspondence and reports.
- Keep the unit environment clean, report equipment problems, and maintain accountability for special projects.
- Meet with staff and maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
- Continuously study and complete required training and documentation as directed by management.
- Ensure safety and infection‑control policies are followed; keep a safe and clean environment.
- Maintain provider schedules, run reports on MISYS/Tiger, prepare deposits, and verify accuracy.
- Access the unit medication room for stocking and retrieving supplies, as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the physician or practice manager.
- High school diploma or GED and 3‑6 months of related experience.
- Keyboarding and computer skills with experience in hospital‑based programs such as Medic, Misys, or Tiger.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, professional customer‑service skills, and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, file accurately, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information.
- Basic math skills and ability to use standard office equipment.
- Ability to perform light clerical duties and multi‑task with minimal supervision.
- Experience with medical insurance verification preferred.
- Comfortable with physical demands such as walking, standing, stooping, and lifting light weights.
- Awareness of mental/visual fatigue risks and adherence to safety/clean‑environment protocols.
