About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused Medical Assistant to support the daily operations of our clinic in Mesick, MI. This role is critical to delivering high-quality, efficient care in a rural community setting. The Medical Assistant will work closely with the Family Nurse Practitioner and broader care team to ensure a seamless patient experience from intake through follow-up.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for examinations, including taking and documenting vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
- Assist the provider during examinations and procedures
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection as needed
- Administer medications and vaccines in accordance with state guidelines and clinic protocols
- Manage patient flow, room turnover, and ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready
- Coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and patient communications
- Support front desk operations as needed, including scheduling and patient check-in/check-out
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and clinic policies; assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in a primary care or outpatient setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
- Comfortable working in a rural healthcare setting with a high degree of autonomy
